Eridan x Reader Chapter 1

Long, long ago, there lived a prince of the sea. The prince lived in a ship on his own island, cold and alone with no one to talk to. One day, a sickly low-blood came to his door, asking for help and shelter from the sea storm, and in return, she offered to help him with his loneliness. The prince scoffed at the low-blood, for he was skeptical and too proud for any sort of help from the underling. He had already lost any hope for his wishes to come true long ago, deeming them childish and too painful to think of. The low-blood warned him, not be put-off by such differences, as what truly mattered was the heart and soul of someone. Once again, the prince scoffed and slammed the door in her face, dismissing her. The low-blood then threw off her cloak and revealed herself as a high-blood with great powers. The prince tried to explain himself, that he didn't know of the enchantresses position, but it was too late. She had already seen that he was too cold, and uncaring for the new world, and banished him from the planet. The prince found him and his home on a strange new world and the enchantresses voice echoed through his mind as a glass heart lay at his feet, a tiny crack embedded in the surface. "Find love before this fragile heart shatters, and there may be hope for you yet. If you fail, you shall forever be imprisoned on this island and will never know love."

California- fishing town

______ walked through the streets, her nose tucked into her latest romance novel, unknowing of the glimpses and second glances of the others as she walked by. She had been out running errands for her father as he worked on the engines of ships he had pulled in from the sea, as he owned a tug boat/ repair shop. "It'll be great business! The view will be fantastic, too! We'll live on the docks in the perfect little weathered shack like we've always wanted, 'ay?" She glimpsed away from her novel to check that her direction was correct and she wasn't walking in the middle of the street. Glancing at her list of groceries she continued into the small marketplace of the equally small town. "Good morning, _____! Running errands for your father again?" asked Mrs. Petey at the door. "Don't you know it! He's busy again with another broken ship," _____ explained, before delving right back into her book. She grabbed a basket and filled it with the items on her list, grabbing a cookie box from the bakery aisle. As she checked out, she looked through the books stacked up in the magazine racks, running her fingers across the papery  surface of each cover. "Find everything you need?" the cashier asked, sliding the barcode of the milk across the scanner, a beep sounding. "Yes, thank you," ____ smiled, reaching into her pocket to pull out a few bills to pay for the groceries. The cashier handed her a receipt and ____ gave him her money. "Stay beautiful!" he chirped, causing _____ to blush and mutter a thank you as she briskly walked from the store. She hid her face in her book as she headed home, only to have the book slip from her grip suddenly. She blinked in surprise and turned to see none other than Dave Strider smirking down at her, the book in his grasp. "Good morning, ____," he purred, stuffing the book in his back pocket and reaching over to wrap a lock of her (h/c) hair around his finger. She gently pushed his hand away, sighing and crossing her arms as her face grew slightly irritated. "Dave, please. I don't have the time, please give me back my book," she grumbled, holding out her hand. Dave took the book from his back pocket, flipping to a random page. "-his arms winding around her waist, he pulled her closer passionately, a smirk growing on his lips as he-" "Give me that!" ____ spat, snatching the book from his grasp, knowing very well what page he was reading as a blush grew bright on her cheeks. Dave grinned, a chuckle emanating from his throat as he threw his arm about her shoulders. ____ curled her lip up as he spoke. "You know,_____, if you like romance-". His face leaned a little too close for comfort. "I could be just what your looking for," he smirked. ____ gave him a skeptical look, pursing her lips uncomfortably before introducing her hand to his face as she pushed away from him. "I need to get home, Dave," she grumbled, stomping her way down the sidewalk back home. "Fine," he called, holding up his hands in surrender. "Back to your crazy old man, but don't forget to come back for me, babe!" "My father is not crazy!" she gaped angrily, ignoring the second part to defend her father. "He's a genius!"
